IT S TODAY my interview is today. I will be working the camera so you can see my directorial skills. THe new spielberg or Spike Lee you can call me EL LEE. Little anxious to do the interview. Mrs. Fossum was given my Action Paln yesterday so she should give me some feed back today. My ACTION PLAN looks complete but is pending review by Mrs. Fossum also I made a couple of interview questions for the interview with Barbara Lee Edwards on friday. She is the niece of William A "Woogie" Harris who owned the house from 1930 til his death in 1967. She was also involved in the National Negro Opera Company that was stationed there from 1941 to 1962.

DIS IS MONDAY

Today I will be working on my Action Plan that will basically be a timeline of everything i am going to accomplish from now until the end of the project that will be in February

Graduation Project Key Terms

1. Preservation- protection from harm: the guarding of something from danger, harm, or injury
2. Restoration- restoring of something to former condition: the restoring of something such as buildings or furniture to an earlier and usually better condition
3. YPA- Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh: is a non-profit, broad-based regional coalition of dynamic preservation leaders organized to ignite a new historic preservation movement in southwestern Pennsylvania and the active participation of young people in the preservation of historic resources.

6. Historic Site- is a location where pieces of history have been preserved, or that is of political or cultural significance. Historic sites are usually protected by law, and many have escalated to national historic site status

today i explained my project to the class. They seemed very interested.

I heard a couple of peoples project in class today. Most of them seemed as though not alot of thought was put into them. Like meagans she look like she put to much thought into hers so that was like the best one. Mine, probably is thirty times worse than anyone elses.

MORE QUESTIONS, NO ANSWERZ (RUMBLE YOUNG KID RUMBLE)

Today in class i worked on my essential questions. Found my foundation question, and started to develop a search strategy. Other things happened (some ones ignorance to anothers feelings regarding thier project & people playin around with tissues but you didn't here that from me) that i would comment on but you know they might get offended and el might have to regulate out here. and dont nobody want that ( i dont even want that to happen)

WHAT'S GOOD AND WHAT'S BAD

What did I accomplish today? Well, I managed to do five of my sitations from my webliography for the project today in class. Still got five more to go so better get crackin. I think i used the Carnegie Library and Museum of Art. Then some state departments website that shows the historical markers in Allegheny county. I'm starting to get a little confused about what exactly my project was originally on, even though I just really decided like last week. I might want to change it, because I'm getting lost on how to approach doing it. sigh, problems, problems, problems .................................................................................................................................................................................................

Annotation & "One-Shot"

I finally turned in my sample annotation. So now ill start searching for other sites to use as references. I think i could did better on the sample but i ll do better on the real version. I used the Carnegie site that had an archive of photo's taken by Teenie "one-shot" Harris and others. THis is like the third time i ran into his name. My mentor originally told me about, then i was Mrs. Moye's class (the day i couldn't go on my internship) and she was talking about him to her students in photography class. So either someones tryin to tell me something about him or his work is going to be very useful to me in the future.

Today i started my webliography. I found some info on About.com and google. I also finally put up my poster its supposed to relfect the intentions of my project.

NEW LIGHT

With the help of my teacher, Mrs. Fossum, I have found a basis for my Grad Porject.

Now the goal of my project is too eventually propose that not only more of the African-American History from the Pittsburgh area be added to the school history curriculum. I would like this to happen because you can’t just tell someone a building was important, you have to tell them why. Like for instance, The National Negro Opera House was the First permanent African-American Opera company in the Area if not the entire United States. I would use this opportunity to find ways to gain support for the YPA’s preservation and restoration efforts as a continuation of my internship.

The end product of my project will be a video. The video will contain interviews (with people who where there to see these sites in their glory days), actual footage of the sites (I might also try to get older footage of the sites), elaboration on the sites significance, and an update on the current status of the site.

WEEKLY LOG #1

I still don't know what this project is going to be on. But I think I have a better idea. Since i have a internship with the YPA (Young Preservationist of Pittsburgh) I think I could use that to base my project on.

The Beginning

I have a couple of fields of interst to begin my graduation project but I can' make up my mind on which. I could do it on something based around art, since I am a good artist, but even then what specifically would i do? I can't think of anything that would be good to make a project around if i choose art as my subject. I mean, me just drawing a picture wouldn't really do me any good would it? At the moment i'm just lost on a deserted island at night, with a flash light the size of a marker, and the beam of light it emits is the size of an M&M. I just don't know what to do.
